SYRIZA-PS is looking for its political and social alliances on the way to its Congress, which Alexis Tsipras believes will mark the beginning of the end of the worst government of the post-communist era.
At yesterday's meeting of the political centre of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance it was stressed that the 3rd congress will be the precursor of the party's electoral victory, so in the next period all its unifying elements should be highlighted and there should be no introversion. But the issue at stake, according to the president of SYRIZA-PS, is how, through its Congress, it will bring out an extraordinary coherent plan of radical initiatives that will aim to save Greek society and economy. In practice, he believes that the current opposition party will be called upon once again to “correct” the situation in the country and revive society.
«We have already done it once, the regressions of the Mitsotakis government will force us to do it again,» the president told the members of the body. Alexis Tsipras suggesting that their party will again be forced to pull the chestnuts out of the fire.
Therefore, the stakes are not whether the winner will be the SYRIZA-PS the elections. For the Alexis Tsipras this is something that has already been decided. “We will win, Mr Mitsotakis is finished,” he told the political centre, asking the executives to turn their attention to the ways in which he will support society, the middle class, the lower incomes, workers and small and healthy entrepreneurship in the new economic conditions that are taking shape. This means in practice that in the coming days the Alexis Tsipras and his economic staff will undertake the development of this extraordinary recovery plan that moves beyond the party's given programmatic commitments linked to the minimum wage, the mowing of private debt created in the pandemic and the strengthening of the ESY.
And this plan will not only concern the weak but also the middle class. This is a direction that the opinion polls also show. During yesterday's meeting, the public opinion polls were analysed in terms of their qualitative characteristics and it was pointed out that the area of the progressive centre is still a “grey zone” on which SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance must focus its efforts, as this is where the battle will be decided. It was also pointed out that SYRIZA will have to plan how to deal with the age groups over 45 years old and of course the pensioners who in the last elections overwhelmingly supported the NW. However, at ages up to 44 years old the SYRIZA-PS is still the leading political force.
The meeting of the political centre reportedly discussed a political plan prepared by Euclid Tsakalotos for the direction of the party, which also includes a justification for the characteristics of the so-called anti-Syriza front.
