Let the state and the municipality be there. Intervene immediately. To protect the life, safety and everyday life of the.

This is the obvious.

On the contrary, in Kythera, 39 days after the great natural disaster of April 2, 2026, the road behind the port in Ammos Square remains in a state of collapse, dangerous and abandoned.

Despite the notifications to the Municipality, despite the autopsies of experts and despite the official information of the Municipal Authority about an immediate and serious risk to public safety, there has been no substantial restoration to date.

And yet, the Greek state provides funding and emergency aid to municipalities affected by natural phenomena and disasters, precisely so that they can intervene immediately and effectively where there is a need.

Unfortunately, there seems to be neither the capacity nor the prioritisation for the obvious, for the safety of citizens, for the protection of basic infrastructure, for the immediate restoration of dangerous areas.

Instead, there seems to be time only for «big projects», photos and public relations, while the everyday life of citizens is literally falling apart before everyone's eyes.
