The largest “green” project in the country is photovoltaic and cooperative

It is a multi-sector network of photovoltaic parks in Agrinio, with a capacity of 100 megawatts, built by the company kIEFER and owned by 500 families in the region.

The connection to the electricity network of the city of photovoltaic projects the energy communities Agrinio, with a total capacity of 100 MW developed and built by the company kIEFER.

It is estimated that the works will be operational in the autumn of 2021. These are the largest photovoltaic park already built in Greece, an investment in which about 500 families of Aitoloakarnans participate and from which another 2,200 families benefit directly.

kIEFER and the Agrinio Association exploited all the available energy potential of the market and created an energy environment, adapted to the needs and potential of the region.

The central objective is to empower citizens and local actors in the energy sector, as the main objective is to generate added value for local communities.

The profile of the projects in Agrinio

kIEFER TEK cooperates with the Agricultural Cooperative «Union of Agrinio», on the one hand for the development of large multi-stakeholder RES projects and on the other hand for the integration of energy systems in agricultural farms.

This collaboration began in 2018, with the exhibition Agrotica 2018, where interested residents of Aitoloakarnania had the opportunity to be informed about biogas and photovoltaic technologies and the possibilities of investment and financial support in this sector.

The cooperation of the two institutions created the largest constructed photovoltaic park that exists today in Greece in the region of Katouna in Etoloakarnania. The project was financed by the ProCredit Bank and manufactured by the company kIEFER.

What is different about this project is that it is «grassroots», i.e. it works with the participation of 500 families from the local community. This project is today a living example and a guide for the whole of Greece.

It is worth noting that the Agrinio Association has grouped the projects and is constructing the substation itself, thus enabling producers to participate, something that would be practically impossible if they attempted it individually, due to saturation of the network.

KIEFER TEK is one of the most successful organized and active Greek companies in the rapidly growing energy sector, having already in its assets, the development and construction of projects with a total capacity of 300 MW. It provides integrated solutions for the development, design, supply of equipment, construction and maintenance of energy systems. In addition, it undertakes the intermediation with a major foreign banking house for the financing of projects.

The project in Agrinio which is with a total budget of EUR 65 million, is now recognised throughout the country and as an example of good practice and thus kIEFER, as a pioneer, is called upon to transfer its experience and know-how. It continues with new investments that bring income to Aitoloakarnania and many other regions of Greece.
