Despite the capricious weather, Kythira was «dressed» in blue and white to celebrate March 25.
Following the events in Potamos Square, the celebrations moved on to the historic town of Kythira. In Stai Square, amid an atmosphere of deep reverence and in the presence of political leaders and law enforcement officials, the official thanksgiving service was held.
The Mayor of Kythira, Mr. Efstratios Charchalakis, delivered the commemorative address, linking the lessons of the past with contemporary challenges and emphasizing that historical memory is the surest compass for the future.
The streets of Chora were filled with the sounds of the Kythira Philharmonic, which set the festive tone.
The program continued with traditional dances performed by the students, who were dressed in the beautiful local Tsirigotiko costumes. The day culminated in a parade featuring students from elementary, middle, and high school.
