Health Tourism is a new, rapidly evolving form of tourism with significant growth prospects for the Peloponnese and Western Greece regions, the Peloponnese Tourism Organization stresses in a statement, on the occasion of the recent organization of the Health Forum 1-3 October, held in Patras with the participation of scientific and professional bodies of the health and tourism sectors.
During the session, the prerequisites for the development of health tourism in the two regions were examined, including the new trends that have emerged since the pandemic in health travellers, the determinants of health tourism in terms of demand and supply, the factors that contribute to the reduction of costs in competitive destinations for health tourism, the development of the appropriate institutional framework, especially in the medical tourism sector, both internationally and in the Greek environment, and ensuring the development of the health tourism sector in the two regions.
Health Tourism, due to the strong demographic changes that are expected to take place in the future and the current socio-economic conditions, is an ever growing potential market at global level, which the stakeholders involved in the development process should integrate in their future regional strategy, making the two Regions highly competitive health tourism destinations.
