Shock and sadness over the untimely death of yet another compatriot who “passed away” from complications coronavirus on Wednesday, at a hospital in Melbourne.
He is 54 years old. Angelo Drossa, well known and beloved in our community for his involvement in Greek community soccer teams.
On Christmas Day, Angelos Drosas was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He never came out again, his sister, Ourania Drosas, tells Neos Kosmos, still struggling to believe it.
Our beloved fellow citizen and father of three boys, had received both coronavirus vaccines, He was particularly cautious, as just two years earlier he had undergone a kidney transplant, which had been successful.
The most tragic thing, according to his sister, is that he managed to defeat death once.
His kidney was donated by his wife, Sonia, who happened to be a perfect match, resulting in his rapid recovery and functioning at 98% until he was struck by COVID-19 in December.
He had been burning up at home for two days before an ambulance was called to take him to the hospital.
“He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, and uncle. His wife gave him one of her kidneys. They were very much in love. They were a very loving family,” adds Ms. Drossa, who is even more saddened because she was unable to say goodbye to him due to the restrictive measures that were reintroduced because of the outbreak of the Omicron variant in Victoria.
However, an exception was made for his mother, his wife, and his three children to say their final goodbyes before he left on his last journey.
