Metropolitan Symeon of Nea Smyrni addressed the Board of Directors of the Trifyllio Foundation of Kythira, regarding the issue of utilizing the unfinished Kythira Cultural Center, located next to the Church of Myrtidiotissa in Alimos.
In his letter, dated July 15, 2026, he calls for the donors’ terms and intentions to be respected, while emphasizing the need for consultation and cooperation among the parties involved. At the same time, he expresses his opposition to the possible demolition of the existing building and the construction of apartment buildings, noting that such a development would alter the character of the area and degrade the church’s surroundings.
The Metropolitan calls on Trifyllio to examine the issue carefully and with a sense of responsibility, warning of the consequences of an indiscriminate «exploitation» of the site.
