The Local Property Commission of Kythira and Antikythira announces that the new Local Government Code, which was passed a few days ago by the Hellenic Parliament, a specific provision has been included regarding the institution of Local Property, which thus continues to operate normally and without interruption, now even more firmly established, as its operation has been adapted not only to the specific legislative and jurisprudential framework governing it but also to the provisions of the new Local Government Code.
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Minister in charge, Mr. Theodoros Livanos, as well as to the Mayor of Kythira, Mr. Efstratios Charchalakis, who participated in the committees tasked with drafting the new Code—established by both the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform and the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE)—and contributed to this effort, as he has consistently done through his efforts to support this vital institution, which Zakynthos and Corfu are striving to reinstate.
We would also like to recall the recent legislative measure of December 2025, which was passed unanimously by Parliament and added a provision to the Local Government Law that legalizes all ports and fishing harbors on Kythira and Antikythira and returns to I.P. Myrtidiotissa the fine that had been withheld for the port at Diakofto, despite the bureaucratic difficulties encountered.
