German tour operators do not consider this summer a waste for the European South and the Mediterranean, as they do not see any desire of their customers to cancel or change their holiday bookings in countries affected by major fires, reports the German Travel Association (DRV), which represents tour operators and travel agencies.
According to the Association, «the holiday hotels of German travel agents, especially on the coast, if in some cases they have been affected, they have been only marginally affected». As reported by the German News Agency (dpa), there is a growing need among holidaymakers planning to travel to Greece and Turkey for information on whether the area they are going to visit has been affected by the fires. «However, there is hardly any desire to cancel or change the reservation,» DRV explains.
