For about two hours the heads of the two services talked with the prosecutor giving answers to the questions raised, such as the fact that the fire occurred in a dense forest where there were many dry leaves in the underbrush and as a result it quickly grew to huge proportions. Information was also given on the actions taken to extinguish the fire throughout the days, the difficulties encountered and the adverse conditions due to winds, morphology, etc.
Based on the same information, a detailed reference was made to the means used from the first day in the effort to extinguish the fire, but also on the issue of fire zones. That is, whether there were firebreaks, whether the prescribed forest protection measures had been observed, etc. However, what was pointed out among other things - according to information - from the forestry service is the fact that in the previous period had been the opening of firebreaks in areas of the island, while similar actions were taken during the fire.
It is worth noting that the head of the Prosecutor's Office of Rhodes has ordered the conduct of an urgent preliminary examination regarding the causes that caused this great fire on our island and the causes that make it burn for so many days on the island.
The fire in an agroforestry area in Vitala Evia is under partial control
