The World Health Conference is to take place today, Friday 21/05, in the Italian capital on the initiative of the Government of Mario Draghi (Italy chairs the Group of Twenty - G20) and the European Commission and the main issue is the treatment of pandemics, and the first conclusions that can be drawn from the battle against covid 19.
The President of the European Commission will be present in Rome, Ursula von der Leyen, the Commissioners responsible for health and financial affairs, Stella Kyriakidou and Paolo Gentiloni, and, among others, are expected to take the floor online, the Bill Gates (who has been active in health charity work) and the president of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Antanum Gebrejesus.
The work of the conference has started at 13:00 (GMT) and is expected to end around six in the afternoon.
According to what has been leaked, the Rome Declaration is to be adopted, with possible reference to the health aid to Africa on the part of European countries to deal more effectively with pandemics, the possibility of vaccination population and the general monitoring of the health status of citizens.
The Rome Declaration is expected to emphasise the need to adopt sustainable and accessible strategies to manage the major health problems that the global community may face in the future.
