On Saturday, March 7, the annual dance of the Kythiraiki Brotherhood of Piraeus - Athens, was held with great success at the OASIS Hotel in Glyfada, gathering a large number of Kythirians and friends of Kythira in a very warm and festive atmosphere.
The event was honored with the presence of many of our compatriots, including the leader of the major opposition Mr. Zacharias Souris, the President of the Trifyllion Foundation of Kytheria Mr. Gavrilis Nikiforakis, the President of the Society of Kythera Studies Mrs. Katie Aroni - Tsihli and the Vice President and the Secretary of the Union of Antikytheria.
The President of the Kytheraiki Brotherhood of Piraeus - Athens gave a short greeting, thanking the members and friends of the association for their long-standing support to its actions. He made special reference to the dynamic presence of youth, addressing an open invitation to young people to actively participate, stressing that the doors of the Brotherhood are always open.
The event began with the presentation of the large dance section of the club, which was accompanied by a live traditional orchestra with Yannis Stathis on the lute, Giorgos Kalaitzakis on the violin and Kostas Stathis on singing.
The musical continuation of the evening was undertaken by the orchestra of our compatriot Spyros Gianniotis, which for the first time participated in a Tsirigotiki event outside Kythera. With the excellent performances of favorite island songs, he managed to create a unique atmosphere, dragging the people into dancing and singing until late.
The Board of Directors of the Kytheraiki Brotherhood expresses its sincere thanks to all the Kytherians and friends who honored the event with their presence. Special thanks are also addressed to the Vice President of the Brotherhood Mr. D. Kalaitzakis for his kind sponsorship, which contributed significantly to the success of the evening.
We renew our appointment for next year, with the wish to continue to meet and keep alive the tradition and the ties of the Kytherian community.
