According to the new declaration issued by the Committee for Domestic Property of Kythira and Antikythira on 10 March 2026, a public auction is announced for the lease of parts of the seashore and beach in Kythera.
Here are the basic details of the process:
Auction Schedule and Location
The auction will be open and oral and will take place on Thursday 2 April 2026, from the 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the offices of the Commission's Property Committee.
Available Sections and Starting Prices
The sections to be leased concern the placement of umbrellas or the operation of a canteen in the following areas:

Duration of the lease
The leases will be valid until 31 December 2028. The period is divided into three lease phases (2026, 2027 and 2028), with the rent remaining fixed throughout the period.
Deadlines and supporting documents
Interested parties must submit the application file with the necessary supporting documents by Tuesday 31 March 2026 at 13:00 at the Commission's office in Chora Kythera. Among the documents required are:
A letter of guarantee of an amount equal to 10% of the specified minimum annual rent.
Tax, insurance and municipal information (from the Municipality of Kythera and Domestic Property).
Designation of a guarantor.
Basic Terms and Restrictions
Tender increases: Each new tender in the auction must be increased by at least 100,00 € from the previous.
Environmental protection: Any permanent construction (concrete, concrete paving, etc.) is prohibited.. Umbrellas must be made of natural materials (wooden frame, reed or grass cover).
Free zone: A free lane of at least 5 meters from the coastline for the movement of bathers.
Cleanliness: The lessee is obliged to keep the premises clean within a radius of 50 metres from the boundaries of the lease.
