The Strait of Hormuz must remain closed as an instrument of pressure, says the message read out by Iranian state television and signed by the new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
In the same message, the first addressed after his election as his father's successor, it is noted that all US bases in the region must be closed because they will be the target of attacks.
Iran hit Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates
The Saudi Ministry of Defence announced today that it intercepted a drone heading towards the Sheba oil field, the third such incident reported today. Shortly before 02:00 in the morning, the ministry had indicated that it intercepted a drone heading for the same oil field, which is located in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, an AFP reporter reported that explosions were heard this morning in the centre of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, one of which was very powerful, as Iran continues to target Gulf countries in retaliation for Israeli-American strikes against it.
The reporter said she saw small columns of smoke rising over a district of the Emirati commercial capital minutes after the explosions were heard.
In Kuwait, the Ministry of Electricity announced that six power transmission lines have been taken out of service after being hit by intercepted drone debris. The ministry added that electricity and water supply is under control.
Moreover, in Bahrain, eyewitnesses told Reuters that they saw smoke rising from the area where the country's international airport is located.
At the same time, the Interior Ministry urged residents in many areas to stay in their homes after an attack, blamed on Iran, on hydrocarbon tanks.
The ministry in a post on X asked residents “of Hind, Arad, Kalali and Samahiz to stay in their homes and close windows and ventilation as a precautionary measure” to protect themselves from “the possible effects of smoke from a fire” that authorities are trying to extinguish.
Earlier, Bahrain's Interior Ministry had referred to an “Iranian attack targeting fuel tanks at a facility in the governorate of Mukharak”.
