The pistol used by the Sean Connery in his first film James Bond is the star of the exhibits that go under the hammer at an auction in Hollywood, next month.
The semi-automatic Walther PP gun, which together with the smaller model of the PPK, was one of the most famous images in the film. Its price is expected to be between 150.000 - 200.000 dollars at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills on December 6, the auction house said today.
The gun was used by Connery in the movie “Dr. No” in 1962.
Sean Connery, the first to portray the famous British agent on the big screen, passed away on October 31, at the age of 90.
«The silhouette of 007 holding this weapon has become the most iconic image of James Bond films and one of the most recognizable pop culture references of all time,» explained Martin Nolan, the executive director of Julien's Auctions, in a statement.
The pistol is the top exhibit out of a total of 500 items of Hollywood memorabilia to be auctioned, including the helmet worn by Tom Cruise in “Top Gun” and the first dress worn by former First Lady Michelle Obama.
