The Municipal Party «All Together - Kythira - Antikythera» issued a press release regarding the port of Diakoftium. Read below:

The port of Diakofti and the «Bonapartism»...
An unpleasant surprise was contained in the recent announcement for the start of port studies in Kythera with funding from the Region of Attica: There was not a single mention of what is to come with the port of Diakoftium!
But the case with the port is critical and urgent for Kythera.
-The recent Aqua Jewel accident (and what followed) confirms that there is no room for further inertia and complacency. There is a huge need to improve the port facilities at Diakofti in order to allow safe access for all kinds of ships.
The head of our party «All together, Kythira-Antikythera» Mr. Zacharias Souris, twice requested the study of the central port of Diakofti, as he is entitled to under Art. 3 of the law. 3852/2010. The initial position of the Mayor Mr. Harhalakis was positive asking to be given to us, while on the contrary a few days later with his reply letter to the 09 April 2024 and with No. Prot. 838, stated that «it doesn't exist»!!! He also stated that for the legalization of the port an amendment is needed which he has prepared himself to be submitted!!!
The Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy supports and informs that there is no request from the Municipality of Kythera to improve the port...
Let's get something straight:
1) The Municipal Authority is obliged to provide the requested documents to any councillor who requests them. No one owns the Municipality, democratic control cannot be obstructed. Mr. Harhalakis will soon understand that the era of «Bonapartism» is irreversibly over.
2) The Diakofti port case is very serious and no one can treat it (or say that they are treating it) as a personal matter. It is laughable that Mr. Harhalakis is also trying to appear as a legislator who drafts and imposes amendments...
3) The established incompetence and amateurism of the Municipal Authority can not hide the fact that the port of Diakofti today is still classified as «forest» and the buildings are illegal... In its 3rd term of office the municipal authority of Mr. Harhalakis has not managed to solve one of the most important issues of the island.
4) We declare our willingness to contribute with ideas and actions (even with free studies) to address the island's pressing problems. A prerequisite, however, is that the Municipal Authority agrees that it wants our contribution...
PS. According to Wikipedia Bonapartism is «a political phenomenon in which power is concentrated in a person who has popular approval, rules authoritatively and, even if he believes he is defending the interests of the people, in reality serves the aims of an oligarchy»
