The total votes of the two candidates will be announced within the day (Monday 25 September) by the President of the Central Electoral Committee and Professor of Constitutional Law Yannis Drossos.
According to the data announced by Yannis Drossos earlier, when the 75% of votes were counted, Stefanos Kasselakis was already leading with 56.461 votes and 56,69% against Efis Achtsioglou with 43.139 votes and 43,31%. The result corresponds to the integration of 471 out of 537 polling stations. The total number of invalid and white votes was 1,19% of which 0,45% were white.
Drossos congratulated the 135,000 members of SYRIZA who, he said, «fought a multiple and difficult election battle». He also thanked «the comrades of the KEFE who guaranteed the good conduct with unanimous decisions and in a climate of cooperation, as well as the election committees in all polling stations of the country». Drossos pointed out that it was a demanding process and recalled that in the past another party «messed up» in its own elections, referring to the elections for the presidential election of the New Democracy.
