Bergman's Island
An American couple, famous director Tony and screenwriter Chris, seek inspiration in the wild and evocative landscape of Sweden's Fårö Island, where Bergman lived for years and shot his most important films.
At first, everything seems idyllic. However, as the days go by, the island seems to have a catalytic effect on both of them. Concerns about their art, but also their personal lives, begin to cast a shadow over their daily routine.
The woman is more affected. As the image of the young couple starring in her new script crystallizes within her, she seems to sink into memories of her first love. Memories, repressed feelings, and unspoken desires come to the surface. All «those invisible things that circulate in a couple» and inspire her husband suddenly become more visible between them. Bergman's island begins to resemble a prison, Bergman himself (and his artistic shadow) seems to follow them everywhere, and the atmosphere of Före begins to affect the couple's relationship.
Mia Hansen-Løve competed for the Palme d'Or at Cannes with this film, which is set on the most famous island in cinema and is largely autobiographical, as she and her long-time partner, the famous Olivier Assayas, had traveled to and lived in Foret for a short time, just like the heroes of her film.
Although already well known in Cannes, the director, who won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival for her film «The Future,» participated for the first time in the Festival's Official Competition with Bergman's Island.
In her film, which in a way refers to Bergman's «Scenes from a Marriage» (one of the films the director shot on the island of Fårö), she questions the relationship between art and family. It is worth mentioning that Ingmar Bergman, father of nine children from six different partners, faced many divorces during his long stay on the island of Fårö.
Starring Tim Roth, Vicky Krieps, Mia Wasikowska, Anders Danielsen Lie.

For the first time, the future is uncertain as they risk losing much more than their home.
The film by award-winning screenwriter and director Carla Simón (who grew up in the small Catalan village of Alcaràs) won the Golden Bear at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival and was praised for its performances by both children and actors in their eighth decade of life.

Inspector Maigret and the Mystery of the Dead Girl
The 1950s. A young woman is found dead in a Paris square, wearing an evening gown. She has five stab wounds, all from close contact. Inspector Maigret must first discover her identity and then reconstruct the last days of her life in order to find the murderer.
Patrice Leconte adapts Georges Simenon's novel «Maigret and the Dead Girl» (1954) – he is a fan of the famous Belgian author – with Gérard Depardieu (instead of Daniel Auteuil, as originally announced) in the role of Inspector Maigret.
As for the difference between Maigret and the two famous detectives of literature, Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, as Leconte stated, the answer is modesty. «Maigret is willing to admit when he is wrong. This trait makes him more human.».
Starring: Gérard Depardieu, Mélanie Bernier, Aurore Clément, Hervé Pierre.
