The refund of the excise duty (Efik) on diesel for agricultural use is immediately credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiary farmers.
The decision co-signed by the Minister of Rural Development and Food Mr. George Georgantas, the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Apostolos Vessyropoulos and the Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority Mr. Georgios Pitsilis, regarding the criteria that will apply to the refund of VAT, was published in a Government Gazette (4485/24-8-2022/ Issue B) and immediately the amounts to which farmers are entitled will be credited to their accounts. The criteria are based on the Decree DEFKF A 1141582/EX2016/29.9.2016 of the Ministers of Finance and Rural Development and Food (Government Gazette B’3155/2016).
According to the decision, the beneficiaries are all farmers - natural persons, who have been registered in the Register of Agricultural Holdings until the 15η July 2022 and have submitted an application for Single Payment Scheme for the years 2021 and 2022. According to the decision, the amount to which each farmer is entitled will be credited directly to his/her bank account, without the need to submit any supporting documents.
It is reminded that the amount of the refund is calculated based on the maximum quantities of oil consumption per farmer, depending on the acres and the type of crop or livestock he owns, as determined by Government Gazette B 3155/2016. The amounts to be paid, following a government decision, are unconfiscated and shall not be offset against refundable amounts owed to the State.
It is noted that the amount allocated is increased by €10 million, from €60 million to €70 million. Farmers are again receiving the refund of the VAT as it was last paid in 2016.
The Minister of Rural Development and Food Mr. George Georgantas in a statement stresses that «the government consistently implements its decisions to support citizens and in particular producers in the primary sector. Our decision to stand by our farmers, especially in this difficult period, is non-negotiable. By supporting the Greek farmer, we support the Greek region and Greek society.
