Moscow: Death toll from terrorist attack rises to 150

«They planned the attack carefully,» say Russian secret services

The list of victims of the terrorist attack in Moscow is growing by the hour. A short while ago, the authorities revised the death toll, which now stands at 150.

As rescue teams continue to search through the rubble of the concert venue in Krokos, more bodies are being found.

Dozens have been injured, with authorities warning that the final death toll is likely to rise, as several of the injured are in critical condition.

According to Russian media reports citing the Federal Security Service, the suspects allegedly planned the attack carefully.

They hid weapons in advance in a cache, from which they opened fire on the crowd at Crocus and then planned to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border. One of the detainees claimed that he was offered 500,000 rubles for the massacre.

Russian secret services have their eyes on Kiev

Although ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, Russian intelligence agencies claim to have «seen» links between the perpetrators and Ukraine.

Specifically, Russia's security service (FSB) said in a statement that «after committing the terrorist attack, the criminals planned to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border and had appropriate contacts on the Ukrainian side.».

The FSB announcement, cited by Russian news agency TASS, also states that «the attack had been carefully planned.».

At the same time, the Russian news agency Interfax reported, citing an FSB announcement, that «four alleged perpetrators of the attack were heading towards the Russian-Ukrainian border when they were arrested early this morning (March 23) and had contacts on the Ukrainian side.».

So far, 11 suspects have been detained by the Russian authorities, including four individuals with links to terrorism.

In a post on Telegram, MP Alexander Kinstein emphasized that two more suspects had fled into the forest.

Earlier, photos of the alleged perpetrators inside the white vehicle, which they used to flee after causing death and destruction, were posted on social media.

Russia's Investigative Committee, which investigates major crimes, said it had opened an investigation into terrorist act.

In response, Moscow warns that Ukraine is behind the attack.

At the same time, Russian MP and retired general Andrei Kartapolov warns that «if Ukraine is found to be behind the attack, there must be a clear response on the battlefield.».

It should be noted, however, that Kiev, through the mouth of the Ukrainian president's adviser, Volodymyr Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, made it clear that Ukraine «has absolutely nothing to do» with the attack.
