Mitsotakis: Change of agenda from coronovirus to economy targeting the middle class

Mitsotakis continues to promote tax cuts, wanting to appeal to the middle class and give a perspective beyond and after the coronavirus pandemic.

The Prime Minister continues the operation to reach out to the middle class Kyriakos Mitsotakis, changing the agenda from pandemic of coronavirus, as the restart of the economy will be the focus of today's cabinet meeting.

The tax cuts announced last Thursday by the prime minister were aimed at regaining the confidence of the middle class, recalling in this crucial election victory of the New Democracy the 2019 voter track, the tax policy of the SYRIZA.

From the Thessaloniki on Saturday the Prime Minister even stated directly: “We are returning to the middle class what SYRIZA took from it”, stressing that despite the pandemic and the crisis, the government is consistent with its pre-election commitments. He even spoke of “the beginning of a virtuous cycle of rapid recovery for our country after the pandemic”, wanting to give prospects for economic growth. He also cited the upgrade of Greek debt by Standard & Poor's and referred to the National Recovery Plan, «Greece 2.0», which includes, as he stressed, hundreds of projects that will reshape the productive model, the image, but also everyday life.

It is recalled that the tax cuts announced by Mitsotakis last Thursday concern the income tax on businesses, the advance payment to be paid by businesses, the abolition of the business tax for 2022 and the reduction of employer contributions for next year.

Mitsotakis is expected to send new messages aimed at the middle class at today's cabinet meeting, at which the Finance Minister Christos Staikouras will give a pre-agenda presentation on the relaunch of the economy.

The agenda of the cabinet also includes, among other things, a presentation by Minister of Development Adonis Georgiades the draft law on the simplification of the licensing framework for economic activities.
