PASOK MP Andreas Loverdos spoke about the arrest of Eva Kaili, who is accused of being involved in the “Qatar Gate” corruption scandal that has rocked the European Parliament, saying he was embarrassed, sad and shocked.
It is recalled that Eva Kaili, according to Belgian media, is among the four people who were remanded in custody. A large amount of cash was found in her house in bags and in a suitcase.
«I have three things to tell you. The first is political. I am basically a politician. But I am also a professor of public law. So I'll put that into the conversation. Politically, I think the European Socialist and Democratic Party has spoken, suspending her membership of the European Party. That is an action that we are putting on the table. It covers me perfectly.
The second one is the president of PASOK where he deleted it and I'm putting this on the table because I'm covered by both options. So politically we have responded through collectives: the European collective and the Greek party of which I have the honour to be a member. At the legal level.
