Poverty is a direct threat to the life and health of citizens, according to data for 2022, while a large number of people are excluded from dental services in a survey by the Hellenic Statistical Authority on «Health Status, Health Services Use, Factors affecting Health» in 2022. This records the exclusion of the vast majority of citizens from adequate health services due to the methodical stripping of the NHS on the one hand and the impoverishment of citizens on the other.
In the vast majority of cases (66.8% or almost seven out of ten) Greeks do not have access to necessary medical examinations due to their inability to afford them, as the public health system is unable to meet the needs of the country's citizens both in terms of staff and infrastructure and in terms of state funding.

Even for dental issues, for which pain very often requires going to a dentist to be treated, more than one in five Greeks classified as poor are left without the necessary services (21%) and this is also true for a significant proportion of the non-poor population (13.7%).
The reason why people do not have access to the necessary dental services is economic hardship. And even more so for an even higher percentage, exceeding three out of four (77.2%).
