For one more summer the Kythira Association of Athens had a significant presence in the cultural events of Kythera.

Kythira welcomed Zakynthos and the Kythira Association of Athens participated in the two-day cultural events organized by the Municipality of Kythira, Thursday 31 August in Potamos and Friday 1 September in Chora, where the «Giostra Zakynthos», the «Artistic Workshop of Zakynthos» and the Association of Maniantos «Mani» were invited.

Thursday, August 31st, Potamos was filled with colourful costumes from Zakynthos, Mani and Kythera that transported us to the atmosphere of another era. The music and dance performance began with a parade that ended in Potamos Square. The procession formed was preceded by the drummers. They were followed by the «nobles» of Zakynthos in medieval costumes and the dancers from the «Artistic Workshop of Zakynthos», from the Association of Manians «The Mani» and from the Kythiraikos Association of Athens, dressed in their traditional costumes, who danced local dances and were applauded with enthusiasm by a large number of spectators.

The programme was presented by the President of the Kytheraic Association of Athens, Mrs. Vaso Samiou.

On Friday, September 1st, the cultural events in our country returned to the Venetian era in Kythera. The alleys and the main street of Chora were filled with period costumes, guitars and serenades. The impressive parade ended at the central square, where we all watched an unforgettable dance performance under the light of the full moon. The dance troupe of the Kythiraikos Association of Athens, for the first time, danced European and Ionian dances in Venetian costumes and delighted the audience.

The Saturday 2 September Kythera Castle was flooded by the music of the cantors of Zakynthos. There, our friends from Zakynthos, had the opportunity to be guided by Mrs. Eleni Harou on the initiative of the Kytherian Association of Athens.

In the evening of the same day, at the restaurant «Kokkino Spalato», the Kytheraikos Association of Athens offered a rich meal with lots of music and dancing, bidding farewell to our friends from Zakynthos, with whom we shared so many wonderful moments in the two-day cultural events. In our company were also our new friends from the Association of Maniacs of All Mania.
