The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Monday evening that the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis «does not exist for him» after he criticized Ankara during his visit to the US and accused him of attempting to block the sale of American F-16 fighter jets to Ankara, according to reports by Reuters and Anadolu.
The United States will decide on its own whether to sell F-16s to Turkey, without having to consult the Greek prime minister, President Erdogan said, according to the Anadolu news agency.
«We agreed not to involve third countries in our dispute. Nevertheless, last week he visited the US and spoke to Congress, warning them not to give us F-16s,’ the Turkish president said at a press conference after the weekly cabinet meeting.
«He no longer exists for me. I will never agree to meet with him. We will continue on our path with honest politicians,» Erdogan reportedly said, according to Reuters.
