The faction «Free Kythira» It comes back with harsh criticism, referring to «piecemeal actions», «non-existent prevention» and «an administration that operates with alibi logic instead of real planning». On the occasion of yesterday's bad weather, it records two incidents that sparked strong discontent: the immobilisation of a school bus for an hour and a half and the flooding of a renovated area of the Chora Primary School.
The focus of criticism is, once again, the quality of the works received by the Municipality and the lack of coordination between services and contractors. As it is pointed out, the lives of residents and especially the safety of children seem to take a back seat, while projects are carried out without comprehensive planning and without timely anticipation of the consequences. The press release follows.
In the end, who's settling in?;
Although we have repeatedly pointed out the lack of prevention and the total lack of organisation in all areas of our Municipality's administration, we continue to witness piecemeal and spasmodic actions. Actions that are not aimed at solving the problems in any meaningful way, but rather at creating an alibi of ’we are not to blame« - and that freezes learning, the economy, everyday life, the very life of the place.
Yesterday's weather forecast accurately described the current situation. It was not wrong.
And in all of this, they are added:
1. Yesterday's inconvenience of the children, with the school bus stalled for an hour and a half and the parents full of anxiety.
2. The picture of shame from the Primary School of Chora, where a gutter turns into a... swimming pool in a place that was (supposedly) «renovated with studies and a lot of effort».
The conclusion is one: Kythera seems to operate on the basis of the “whims” of the contractors and not on the needs of society. On the one hand, projects received by the municipality are poorly done and on the other hand, what should be a non-negotiable priority, the education and safety of our children, takes a back seat.
Projects are carried out without a plan, without coordination, without any foresight as to how they affect the lives of citizens. The concept of prevention is unknown and the interest in people's real daily lives seems to be non-existent.
Yet the political conclusion is clear:
For a party like ours, the answer already lies in the opposite of this logic. A model of governance where the real needs of society are not lost in words and excuses, but are the absolute and non-negotiable priority.
