Elafonisos, on the initiative of the Municipality, is expected to be reference destination for the Greeks of the diaspora, through the cooperation with the Global Hellenic Diaspora, which has 150,000 members worldwide.
The aim is to develop remote working in the off-peak tourist season.
In an online meeting held yesterday between Mayor E. Liaros and the head of the non-profit organization, Anastasios Michos, with the participation of Donis Martakis on behalf of the Municipality's tourism consultancy company, the details of the opening of the flow of visitors with the “building” packages that will include a range of experiences, such as visits to Pavlopetri, hiking, fishing tourism, lessons in local gastronomy and wine tasting, olive and olive oil processing, local salt collection and others.
It is noted that, in addition to contributing to the extension of the tourist season, this initiative is expected to contribute to an increase in the average length of stay, since the minimum time will be 7 nights with the prospect of reaching even a month, since the visitor will be able to work from the island.
According to what has been agreed, an exchange of experience proposals will follow and after they are completed in October, the organization will undertake to communicate the packages to its members, promoting the possibilities offered by Elafonisos so that every future visitor will have the opportunity to formulate their own program.
Elafonisos is the first destination to be associated with the Global Hellenic Diaspora, following the strategic cooperation agreement concluded between the organization and MTC GROUP.
