Dimitris Kontoleontas« intervention on the »New Deal"

The head of the minor opposition Dimitris Kontoleon intervenes in what he attended yesterday's event held at Kythera.News:

«Watching the online discussion on the occasion of the “New Deal” presentation led by Mr.Michalakakis, Mr.Koroneos and Mr.Trifillios, I drew some conclusions that I think will be useful for any further discussion and debate concerning the progress and development of our islands.

I want to congratulate all the speakers who have contributed to a high level debate that unfortunately we do not have the opportunity to see or participate in very often. I will not go into detail about what was said, as it was all interesting, but I must emphasise the fact that our islands have people who, outside of party identities, can really stand up for the progress and prosperity of all of us.

Discussion, dialogue, the presentation of opinions, with knowledge and arguments, are intended to solve problems, not to create them.

It has been confirmed that where personal ambitions, interests and of course the electoral goals do not underlie these debates have a special importance and meaning. I hope that it has become the starting point so that from now on we can set goals, prioritise our needs and evolve in a new and highly competitive environment.

Congratulations to everyone and I hope that next time even more people will participate, especially the institutional rulers of the island.

P.S. Two serious issues that I suggest should be included in the next discussion:

It is about how our islands will be ready to manage and exploit the digital transformation, the new technologies that have entered our lives and especially in the coming years when the digital world will dominate.

Also on how the administrative rulers of local government should behave and take a clear position in relation to the new electoral law that makes municipalities even more demarchocentric and abolish the simple proportional representation.».
