International media outlets in Italy are discovering the timeless charm of Syros

Syros, the elegant capital of the Cyclades, continues to invest heavily in its international promotion, bringing to the forefront of the Italian market a destination that combines history, culture, architecture, and authentic hospitality.

According to a related announcement, through a targeted familiarization trip organized by the Municipality of Syros–Ermoupoli, in collaboration with CK Strategies, leading Italian journalists and representatives of international media outlets had the opportunity to experience firsthand the unique character of an island that stands out not only in the Cyclades, but throughout the Mediterranean as a whole.

What impressed the participants most was Syros’s unique «dual personality.» On the one hand, there is the imposing Ermoupoli, with its neoclassical mansions, marble-paved streets, the historic City Hall, the Apollo Theater, and its remarkable maritime and industrial heritage. On the other hand, the authentic Cycladic side of the island, with Ano Syros, the traditional villages, the quiet beaches, its cuisine, and the everyday life that keeps its character intact.

It is no coincidence that many Italian journalists have described Ermoupoli as a city that is more reminiscent of historic Italian ports, such as Genoa and Trieste, rather than a typical island destination. Its unique architecture, cultural vibrancy, and the atmosphere of a bygone era create an experience rarely found in the Aegean.

The delegation was particularly high-profile, as it included representatives and contributors from leading international media outlets such as Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue Italia, Corriere della Sera, Forbes, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic, RAI TV, L’Officiel, and L’Agenzia di Viaggi. These are media outlets that shape international travel trends and reach millions of readers and viewers, a fact that creates significant opportunities to promote Syros through special features, travel features, and television productions.

In a statement, Deputy Mayor for Tourism Yiannis Voutsinos noted that the mission marked yet another important step in the municipality’s strategy of international outreach. As he stated, the goal is for Syros to further establish itself as a destination for culture, authentic experiences, and high-quality hospitality, attracting visitors year-round. At the same time, he announced that new delegations of journalists and content creators will follow, so that an ever-increasing number of leading international media outlets can discover the unique history and distinctive identity of the ’queen of the Cyclades.”.
