Ophrys candica ssp cytherea B. Baumann & H. Baumann 2005
Ophrys, the white one, of Kythira
(Bornmueller group)
A wonderful little orchid, described in 2005 by Baumann as a distinct subspecies of Ophrys candica, and considered a local endemic. It blooms from late March to late May. It is found throughout the island, often together with Ophrys candica and Ophrys candica var. minoa. This year, its flowering was limited compared to 2011 and ended rather early, in early May.
