The electronic platform for Greek voters abroad is expected to be operational within the next 15 days, the Interior Minister estimated, Makis Voridis in an interview with the television station contra channel.
Through the platform, expatriates will declare their intention to vote in the Greek elections from their place of residence and in particular at the polling stations to be set up in areas with more than 50 voters. The persons concerned will be registered on special electoral rolls and at the same time will be removed from the electoral rolls on which they are registered.
As explained by the Minister, this means in practice that those registered on our country's new electoral rolls will be deprived of the right to vote in the foreign country in which they reside. In addition, Mr.Voridis announced that the information campaign through which the election process will be communicated is being prepared.
Regarding his reference in another interview earlier to the creation of a system of rewarding civil servants who exaggerate themselves in their work, Mr.Voridis clarified that his view is that there should be a similar system, noting however that the specific issue is not mature enough to be discussed further at this stage and in any case the ministry is not ready to elaborate such a plan.
