Asked about the elections and the electoral law - in the wake of what Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras said at the Thessaloniki International Fair - Makis Voridis said that “the Prime Minister remains firm in his view that the electoral law should not be changed at will”.
Regarding the upcoming elections, he said that «the ballot box, in simple proportional representation, encourages citizens to vote responsibly» and added that the dilemma of the next elections will be «Mitsotakis or return to 2015 under worse conditions, if there is a coalition formation as described by Mr.Tsipras, of the current opposition parties to form a coalition government. SYRIZA with Varoufakis, perhaps with Androulakis, although the KKE has ruled out participating in something like that.».
«If it is reflected in the ballot box on the first Sunday, the dynamics recorded by ND in the polls will be easier to choose on the second Sunday, as ND will be closer to self-reliance, and the scenario of cooperation between the current opposition parties will be cancelled,» the Interior Minister added.
On the possibility of post-election cooperation with the Hellenic Solution of Kyriakos Velopoulos, Mr. Voridis said «I do not exclude anyone. If you exclude the parties with which we are separated by a programmatic chaos, we can cooperate with all parties».
He also clarified that despite the scenarios that are being heard, in the next elections, citizens will vote by cross and not in a different way that will allow later scanning of the ballot papers for counting.
On the energy crisis and support measures, he said that «Greece is better shielded and less dependent on Russian gas than other countries. We have prepared ourselves and we will continue to support households in the same way we are doing it now, i.e. by subsidising the bills.».
