A video showing Lefteris Avgenakis manhandling an airline employee at «Eleftherios Venizelos» has been published.
The incident took place some 24 hours ago and started to become known after the OSEYPE (Federation of Airport Services Workers' Associations) reported an incident of violence against an airline employee by a former government minister.
The scene took place at Athens International Airport, when L. Avgenakis confused the gate and missed his flight, after three announcements with his name had been made. This caused the former minister to lose control and the attack on the employee followed, as shown in the video published by the Voicenews website.

It is noted that the OSEYPE, in the «serious complaint» that reached its offices, said that the incident involved a former government minister in an incident of violence against a ground employee of a well-known airline operating at the airport «Eleftherios Venizelos».
According to the Federation's complaint, which did not mention the name of Lefteris Avgenakis, it is about an incident that seems to have taken place a few 24 hours ago, with the alleged protagonist being a former minister and victim of the alleged assault a member of the airport staff who was at the exit gate.
«The man in question, according to our reports, was travelling from Athens to one of the prefectures of Crete. After a delay of several hours, he found himself in front of the airport workers and started shouting, according to the content of the complaint. At some point, as we are told, the situation seems to have gotten out of hand, with the former minister hitting a staff member with the tip of his mobile phone on the head who fell unconscious at the check-in counter, with the other employees resorting to the assistance of the police,» the same statement denounced.
The Federation cites testimonies, according to which and in front of the institutions, the former minister seems to have sold «bravado», threatening one of the cadets that he will transfer him. In fact, when they tried to calm him down, he shouted «don't touch me, I have immunity».
The Communication also points out the following: «The complainants claim that the scene was filmed. We are simply asking publicly: Was there a YES or NO incident of assault by a former Minister against an employee of a well-known airline at El. Was there any question of an employee of an airline company? We ask for the immediate intervention of the political leadership of the Ministries of Citizen Protection and Transport, as well as the physical leadership of the National Police, but also from the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, to order an immediate investigation of the incident and to check the audiovisual material of the last week of the exit gates for flights from Athens to destinations in Crete. In particular, we ask that those flights, counted on the fingers of one hand, on which former ministers and current members of the current government were on board, be checked.».
At the same time, he called on the alleged perpetrator, since this incident has taken place and he acknowledges himself in the complaints, to find the political courage and fortitude to confirm the incident himself, taking full political and criminal responsibility for his actions.
