Former football star, later actor and now singer, Eric Cantona, released a track on Friday (2/06) announcing his tour in the autumn of 2023 and the release of an album the following year (2024).
At 57, “The King”, as he was known during his footballing heyday at Manchester United (1992-1997), sings in English “The friends we lost”, which is now available on social media.
The “full” voice of the former international striker of France, ends up “melting” in this melancholic piece with piano and strings. This particular title foreshadows a concert series in the fall, “Cantona sings Eric”, before the release of the album with 2024 as the horizon.
The tour is expected to start in Manchester, the city that made him the “king” of football. Manchester United fans still call him a hero in the club's pantheon. His «kung-fu» on an opposing fan in the stands during a match in 1995 (the action brought a major punishment) in no way spoiled... his aura.
«That's what I like, me, live. That's why I do it. Because there will definitely be a lot of imperfections, a lot of accidents. Where there is never an accident, there is never a moment of genius,’ explains Cantona to Le Parisien. His tour will then pass through Ireland, Switzerland and France.
