Today, Tuesday, 09/03, opens the «gates» of the Berlin International Tourism Fair ITB, which aspires to bring together once again the most important players in the tourism worldwide, in a new reality and in view of a completely different tourist season and «to press the reset button for tourism around the world“. In this context, the Minister of Tourism Harris Theocharis will present its overall strategy Greece for the safe reception of tourists.
Under the slogan «Revise, regenerate, reboot - tourism for a better normality», ITB, which last year was cancelled at the last minute due to the pandemic of coronavirus, returns online this year as «ITB Berlin NOW», aiming to «offer solutions tailored to the needs of industry professionals». From 9 to 12 March, presentations, press conferences and eopportunities for networking and negotiation for business ventures between participants. In addition, events are organised to better inform tourism professionals about new trends and the needs of travellers. The events are expected to focus on the new needs of the sector, one year after the outbreak of the pandemic.
«Without a doubt, the coronavirus crisis has deeply shaken the global tourism industry. There is, however, a «spirit of militancy», says ITB head David Ruetz and adds that «especially in these times, ITB Berlin NOW is the world's most important platform for business transactions, exchange of ideas and expert knowledge in the field of tourism».
Exhibitors will present their product on an interactive platform, the «Show Floor», and it will be technically possible to schedule direct online «meetings» between participants - either publicly or privately.
The official «cultural partner» of this year's ITB is the State of Saxony and presentations are planned on topics such as Adventure Tourism, Medical Tourism, Luxury Tourism, Tourism for Young People and Technology in the Service of Tourism.
On the Greek side, the Minister of Tourism Harris Theocharis will hold a press conference tomorrow, under the title «Return to Greece: The journey towards the rebirth of a unique experience has just begun». Theocharis is expected to present Greece's overall strategy to welcome back tourists from all over the world. The ministry's main objective, as stated in the announcement, is to present the new strategy for Greece's return to the Greek island of Greece. to guarantee a pleasant and above all safe stay in the country.
Dozens of Greek tourism companies are also participating in this year's ITB.
