«New Democracy guarantees security and certainty in difficult times. At the end of the four-year term, the electoral dilemma will be stability or adventures. I believe that the Greek people will answer this dilemma positively and will give an independent majority to New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis. In difficult times it is proven who knows how to manage crises better and this has already been proven in relation to the Prime Minister and the government», said the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, in an interview with the radio station «Alpha 989».
He also noted, among other things, that the Prime Minister's clear decision is that the elections will be held at the end of the four-year term, adding that New Democracy is a great popular party that unites Greeks, because it stands by the citizen and guarantees stability.
Regarding the government's intervention on the issue of electricity price increases, the minister stressed, «The intervention, the essence of which was announced by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is very important and relieves to a very large extent households and families in need of this support. The government has caught the pulse of the citizens and I think that the Prime Minister's announcements yesterday are of great importance and give the citizens the opportunity to know that just as it happened during the very difficult period of two years with the coronavirus pandemic, when about 1,100,000 private sector workers were paid 600 euros per month for 15 months to support their lives and the lives of their families, so now households are being supported. The Prime Minister has formulated a national plan in its own right.
On the same issue, Mr Theodorikakos said, among other things, that it is crucial that it is done retroactively. «That is, citizens and households will be credited with these up to 600 euros, to cover the increases we have already paid in our bills. That's because I think this is an extremely important intervention.».
Immediately afterwards, he noted that New Democracy is a great popular party that unites and cares for all Greeks, and stressed: «Especially in difficult times, when there is a crisis, citizens know that they can confidently rely on the policy and decisions of the New Democracy government.».
Regarding the Marfin case, Mr Theodorikakos noted that he has instructed that any new evidence on the case to be given to the investigating authorities, while on the issue of the complaint of rape of a 19-year-old girl in Kalymnos, he said: «I asked for an urgent investigation. There is a complaint, which has seen the light of day, that a 19-year-old girl, a student, went to a police station in Kalymnos and that there was no proper treatment there. That the girl was discouraged from going forward with the complaint and doing the legalities of such cases. I consider such an incident very serious, I cannot know the truth, but because I am very sensitive to such issues I have asked the head of the Internal Affairs Service of the Greek Police to conduct an urgent investigation to see if these complaints are true or not.».
