The acceleration of payment grant of €400 by Special Account of the Manpower Employment Organization (OAED), nine scientific associations in the country are requesting, in a joint letter sent to Minister of Labor, Kostis Hatzidakis.
At the same time, in a statement, the Plenary session of the presidents of the Bar Associations of Greece states that «financial support for scientists is an absolute necessity, as a large proportion of them, due to the consequences of the prolonged health crisis, now face the risk of not even being able to cover their basic living needs,» adding:
«Therefore, the €400 grant from the OAED Special Account under Law 3986/2011, which will not be drawn from state resources but from resources accumulated from our own contributions since 2011, must be paid immediately to all beneficiaries.

JOINT LETTER
Dear Minister,
Financial support for scientists is an urgent necessity, given that, due to the consequences of the prolonged health crisis we are experiencing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, a large proportion of them are now at risk of being unable to meet even their basic living needs.
The €400 grant from the OAED Special Account under Law 3986/2011, which will not be drawn from state resources but from resources accumulated from our own contributions since 2011, must be paid immediately to all beneficiaries. This issue has already been pending for several months. Further delays cannot be accepted. The government must realize that scientists have reached their limit on this issue.
In this context, the bodies request:
1. The immediate issuance of a Ministerial Decision for the launch of the application submission platform for potential beneficiaries in the «ERGANI» Information System, which, according to the ministry's commitments, should have taken place on January 10, 2021.
2. The meeting with you in the coming days, to present our positions and views, as set out in our previous letter dated 22.12.2020 to your predecessor on the issue, both in substance and in terms of the process for its implementation.
