The polls opened at 07:00 for the by-elections in 84 municipalities and 6 regions of the country. The municipal and regional elections are held until 19:00 in the same polling stations, with the same election commissions and the same judicial representatives.
The total number of polling stations in this election is 12,966, while in the first round it was 22,722.
Information on the address of the polling station where 5,641,683 Greek citizens and 18,760 EU citizens permanently residing in Greece are voting today is provided through the electronic platform «Find out where you vote» on the website of the Ministry of Interior https://mpp.ypes.gov.gr/ which is also accessible from gov.gr. Relevant information is also provided by the telephone line 2131361500, as well as by the local KEPs and municipalities.
A total of 15,060 ballot boxes will be used for the vote.
The identification of voters for the exercise of their electoral rights is based on their police identity card (paper or digital) or the relevant temporary certificate of the competent authority or their passport or driving licence or the individual health booklet of all insurance funds. Please note that any «cut» identity cards, as well as expired Greek passports are acceptable. Military personnel and those serving in the security forces must present their military or service ID cards.
In order to assist citizens in exercising their right to vote, the Identity Card Authorities are open today until 19:00.
After the exercise of the electoral right and if requested by the voter, a printed certificate of the exercise of the electoral right, signed and stamped by the chairman of the electoral committee, is issued to him/her.
In the areas where both elections are held, voters go to the screen first for the municipality and after casting their ballot in the respective ballot box, they return for the district vote.
In a run-off election, the voter does not mark a cross, since the vote is repeated only between the regional or mayoral candidates of the two combinations that received the most votes in last Sunday's vote. However, ballot papers with crosses are counted as valid, while crosses are not taken into account.
