The commander of the state airport of Kythira, Stavros Paizanos, shared his opinion with the local community today. He sent an open letter to the media, appealing to the community to carefully follow the measures for protection against the coronavirus. He shared this letter after the emergency transfer to Athens of one of our fellow citizens who fell ill with the coronavirus. Without titles and formalities.
Without reference to names, besides, there is medical confidentiality.
Without invoking the long hours of overwork by the island's hospital staff, or airport employees, the Air Force flight crew, or the EKAV air rescue team, because they did nothing more than their duty, I would like to address everyone:
Unfortunately, the heartfelt wishes and the «magic wand» of New Year's Day 2021 did not bring the much-desired «liberation» from the nightmare that the planet has been living for a year now.
Yesterday's arrival of spring did not signal anything different either.
Redemption may be approaching, but at least it is still a long way off.
The long-awaited plane from 2:30 p.m. yesterday flew over the island with a delay, weighing heavily on everyone who heard it, saw it, and wondered: «The airport is closed on Saturdays! Why ...?»
I am addressing everyone:
Regardless of what we believe about the pandemic, vaccines, and the conspiracy theories that have developed.
The risk is real and yesterday he stated his repulsive present in Kythira.
We must be even more careful, to observe the security measures and the health protocols, meticulously.
Those arriving on the island should be particularly careful not to refuse inspection upon entry.. They will be exposed much more and will put other unsuspecting people at risk., if they are asymptomatic and are not informed, so that they can remain in their homes for the anticipated reasonable period of time.
