How a “CLOUD” is revolutionizing healthcare

The CLOUDplus platform unlocks unlimited possibilities for the storage and utilization of radiological examinations.

Most of us know how much easier it has become to manage digital files since the advent of cloud technology.

With this development, we now have the ability to store files in our own available space, in the ‘virtual’ world of the internet. Most importantly, we can access this space at any time, from any device.

This new technology can now also be applied in the healthcare sector, giving all of us the ability to easily maintain a completely secure, completely accurate, and completely accessible health record.

A concrete example of this application is the innovative CLOUDplus application, a new multi-tiered online platform for storing, sharing, and reviewing radiological examinations.

The platform is designed to modernize every diagnostic laboratory and clinic that uses it, providing the most advanced cloud computing environment. What does this mean in practice?;

How is it that, while until now imaging test results have been provided to patients—and consequently to their treating physicians—via printouts or CDs/DVDs, things are now infinitely easier and faster for everyone.

The delivery methods listed above have countless drawbacks in terms of process, efficiency, and adaptability, as well as serious environmental impacts. There are also difficulties in storing these items and protecting them from damage.

What Changes Does Using CLOUDplus Bring?

The new platform is designed to eliminate all of the above issues, offering significant flexibility and security for your imaging exams. The features it offers are:

  • Online study of images— With a zero digital footprint (HTML Zero Footprint), it is now possible to view, review, and process imaging exams directly online from any device
  • Virtual exam administration (QR Code Scanning)- A contactless and safe way to share and view imaging data and diagnoses as a Covid-19 safety measure
  • Electronic file- A well-organized digital medical record is automatically created for the treating physician and the patient, accessible 24/7
  • Eco Friendly – Discontinuation of the use of environmentally harmful printing and storage materials that have been used to date.

What about the benefits?;

  • Electronic transfer of imaging exams from the diagnostic center to the CLOUDplus service’s proprietary data center.
  • Electronic transmission of microbiological test results and other documents upon request.
  • Immediate and secure digital delivery of test results to the patient and the physician without physical contact (COVID-19 safety measure).
  • Digital records of all patients treated by the attending physician
  • A digital record of all of the patient's test results (PatientPortal) that can be shared with the doctor of their choice.
  • 24/7 online access to view, review, and process imaging exams from any device.
  • Very high platform response speed (Highresponse).
  • Delete the 100% data after a specified period of time.
  • Saving human and financial resources for the diagnostic laboratory.
  • Eco-friendly and environmentally friendly.

Who is this service intended for?;

CLOUDplus is designed for any diagnostic imaging laboratory or clinic that wants to share imaging exams with:

  • Referring physicians from both in-network and out-of-network facilities, across all specialties, to view their patients’ test results and diagnoses.
  • Internal medicine physicians and radiologists, for the interpretation of test results.
  • Patients, so that their medical records are stored in a digital archive that is accessible at any time.

How It Works

The CLOUDplus platform is very easy to use. Below is a step-by-step guide to how it works:

  • STEP 1: Patient Examination: The diagnostic facility performs an examination: e.g., a digital mammogram. The mammogram is “uploaded” online to CLOUDplus either automatically via specialized equipment provided by the CLOUDplus service, or manually, depending on the technological infrastructure available at each laboratory.
  • STEP 2: Physician Notification: The physician who refers the patient for the exam automatically receives an email notification as soon as the exam is completed, informing them that a new exam is available for viewing. They log into their personal CLOUDplus account and review the test using the specialized built-in software, as well as the attached diagnosis. They have access only to the tests they have ordered and not to the patient’s entire medical history (General Data Protection Regulation—GDPR).
  • STEP 3: Digital Patient Record: Patients can access their entire imaging and diagnostic record from their personal account whenever they need to, from any device.

It should be noted that at a time when there is a great deal of discussion about digitization in the healthcare sector, as well as the development and evolution of each patient’s electronic health record, the CLOUDplus platform represents a very important step forward.

And that's because the platform makes it possible to the automatic creation of a digital medical record for each patient as well as for each doctor who uses it. It is worth note that there is no risk of eavesdropping or breach, as access to the CLOUDplus platform is granted via personal security codes, and the sharing of exams with multiple users isbased on specific settings. Furthermore, all requirements of the GDPR are strictly adhered to, ensuring full protection of the patient’s personal data.

From a technological standpoint, there is also a disaster recovery capability for the diagnostic center database, and the records are stored for up to 10 years.

Patients, it is important that we seek out what is best for ourselves and our health. For healthcare professionals, it is imperative to provide safety, speed, and convenience in line with the digital age.
