Olaf Scholz's statement that our country will also send armoured vehicles to Ukraine, after the recent covert shipment of weapons, is a sensation. This is the second time in a few days that the Greek people and political parties have been informed from abroad about the plans of the Mitsotakis government.
The German Chancellor announced that he and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis have agreed on a cooperation similar to that between Germany and the Czech Republic, under which the latter will deliver to Ukraine armoured vehicles from the former Warsaw Pact stockpile, which will then be replaced with equivalent German armament systems.
According to Reuters, Germany will deliver infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to Greece so that the Greek government can deliver Soviet-style weapons to Ukraine.
«Today I spoke with the Greek prime minister about a similar agreement with Greece, which has such systems and we will supply it with German tanks,» Solts said during a press conference in Brussels after the European Council, adding that the details would be settled by the defence ministries of the two countries. Similar cooperation agreements would be sought with other countries, he noted.
