The notorious reform in Education that the government and Pierrakakis are propagandizing is synonymous with the abolition and contraction of departments, the constant movement of teachers and classes where students are piled up in numbers that demonstrate the anti-pedagogical and anti-educational policy of the Ministry of Education.
The ELME of Piraeus, in view of the strike tomorrow Wednesday (23/10), collected all the data that constitute the list of shame of Kyriakos Pierrakakis as the policy that leads to the downgrading of schools continues even with verbal orders for non-approval of sections in many schools in Piraeus, Drapetsona, Korydallos, Nikaia and Salamina.
The results of the downgrading of schools are reflected in the following data released by the ELME of Piraeus:
-In the 10th High School of Piraeus, the students of the Secondary School are stacked in 3 sections of 27 children (!), despite the fact that there are students with certificates (learning difficulties etc.).
-The 14th Gymnasium of Piraeus in the first and second grades are created sections of 25 and 26 students, with dozens of opinions
-At the 1st High School of Drapetsona in the B’ Lyceum 2 sections of 26 and 1 of 25 students are created
-At EPAL Korydallos 2 sections of General Education are not approved, resulting in 26 and 27 students in class
-In the 5th High School of Korydallos, a section of the Secondary School is cut, resulting in sections of 27 students
-After the protests of parents-teachers and students and after the mass participation in the mobilization of Friday 18/10 at the Piraeus School of Education, the classes will remain 4 (from 3 requested). The struggle, therefore, has been successful!
-In the 9th Gymnasium of Nikaia, the 4th section of the 2nd Gymnasium is cut, resulting in students being stacked in 3 26-part sections, with 15 students being certified by KEDASY for various issues!
-A section of the 4th High School of Korydallos is cut off, resulting in sections of 26 and 27 children!
-A section of the 3rd High School of Korydallos is also cut, resulting in a large number of students in the class.
-The 4th section of the 2nd High School of Piraeus is cut, resulting in the creation of 3 sections, with 27, 27 and 20 students. The 20 students are crammed into a room of only 20 square meters (essentially a storage room), which poses serious risks to the health and physical integrity of teachers and students in the event of an emergency (e.g. earthquake). The other 2 sections are of 27 students (in the 3rd grade!).
-The 9th High School of Piraeus cut 2 sections, one in A’ and one in C’ High School, despite the fact that there are children with KEDASY certificates
-The 5th High School of Nice is cut in the first grade, resulting in the creation of sections with 26 and 27 students in the classroom.
-At the high school of Abelakia Salamina 2 sections are cut, 1 in the first and 1 in the second high school. It is the school that sought at the beginning of the year to cut a section in the 3rd grade as well, that is 3 in total!
As the ELME of Piraeus points out, apart from the large number of students in the classroom, «the non-approval of sections leads teachers, who until now have been teaching these children, out of the classroom and to other schools, since ... they suddenly find themselves in surplus. The pedagogical relationship with the pupils, which takes time to build, is thus violently destroyed. Colleagues are forced to look for hours in other schools, just as the school year has begun.».
At the same time with the non-approval of the assignment of dozens of teachers to the Piraeus Regional Directorate of Education who had been working there for years, an incredible mess-dominos of teacher movements and a «rain» of objections-complaints of colleagues and colleagues.
«The example of a colleague who was teaching in a high school and had to leave his students, while he was suddenly sent to fill in the hours in Salamina is typical! Another example of a colleague, who teaches directional courses and now, with the non-approval of a department, he is asked to complete his hours at another school, is typical», notes the ELME of Piraeus.
Teachers are participating in the 24-hour strike that will take place tomorrow Wednesday (23/10) with their gathering scheduled for 10 am outside the Regional Directorate of Education of Attica at 24 Xenia Street

EVERYONE ON STRIKE ON 23 OCTOBER
Colleagues, Colleagues
Since the summer we have been fighting a big battle against the anti-pedagogical-anti-educational policy of the Ministry of National Defence, against the compression of departments - no approvals. This struggle has brought results, as of the 108 departments that were planned to be cut in Piraeus, most of them have been implemented (76 only in the EPAL).
However, in recent days they have arrived (with verbal orders of the Region and DIDE Piraeus!) again negative recommendations for schools of Piraeus, such as the 14th Gymnasium of Piraeus, the 10th High School of Piraeus, the 1st High School of Drapetsona, the EPAL of Koridallos, the 5th High School of Koridallos, the 3rd High School of Koridallos, the 4th High School of Koridallos, the 9th High School of Nikaia (and perhaps others), the 5th High School of Nikaia, the 2nd High School of Piraeus, the High School of Ambelakia Salamina, the 9th High School of Piraeus. Not approved 16 in total (from these schools) departments (perhaps others, in other schools), with the result that:
in the 10th High School of Piraeus, the students of the Secondary School are stacked in 3 sections of 27 children (!), despite the fact that there are students with certificates (learning difficulties etc.).
at the 14th Gymnasium of Piraeus in the first and second grades, classes of 25 and 26 students are created, with dozens of opinions
in the 1st High School of Drapetsona in B’ Lyceum 2 sections of 26 and 1 of 25 students are created
at EPAL Korydallos 2 sections of General Education are not approved, resulting in 26 and 27 students in class
at the 5th High School of Korydallos anda section of the second grade, resulting in a classes of 27 students are created
at the High School of Kamini, after the protests of parents/teachers and students and after the mass participation in the mobilization of Friday 18/10 at the Piraeus School of Education, the classes will remain 4 (from 3 requested). The struggle, therefore, has been successful!
in the 9th Gymnasium of Nice, the 4th section of the 2nd Gymnasium is cut, resulting in students being stacked in 3 26-part sections, with 15 students having a KEDASY certificate for various issues!
in the 4th High School of Korydallos, a section of the Secondary School is cut, resulting in sections of 26 and 27 children!
in the 3rd High School of Korydallos, a section of the first grade is also cut, resulting in a large number of students in the class.
In the 2nd High School of Piraeus, the 4th section of the 3rd grade is cut, resulting in the creation of 3 sections, with 27, 27 and 20 students. The 20 students are crammed into a room of only 20 square meters (essentially a storage room), which poses serious risks to the health and physical integrity of teachers and students in the event of an emergency (e.g. earthquake). The other 2 classes are of 27 students (in the 3rd grade!).
in the 9th High School of Piraeus 2 sections are cut, one in A’ and one in C’ High School, despite the fact that there are children with KEDASY opinions
in the 5th High School of Nice, a section in the first grade is cut, resulting in the creation of sections with 26 and 27 students in the class.
in the high school of Abelakia Salamina 2 sections are cut, 1 in the A’ and 1 in the B’ high school. It is the school that sought at the beginning of the year to cut a section in the 3rd grade, that is 3 in total!
But apart from the large number of students in the classroom, the non-approvals of sections lead teachers, who have been teaching these children until now, out of the classroom and into other schools, since ... they suddenly find themselves surplus. The pedagogical relationship with the students, which takes time to build, is thus violently destroyed. Colleagues are forced to look for hours in other schools, just when the school year has started.
At the same time with the non-approval of the assignment of dozens of teachers to the Piraeus DIDE by the Regional Directorate of Education of Attica (see ELME's announcement), who had been working there for years, an incredible mess-domino of teacher movements is created, but also a “rain” of objections-complaints of colleagues (especially after the act 43 of the PYSDE).
The example of a colleague who taught in a high school and was forced to leave his students, while he was suddenly sent to fill in the hours in Salamis! Another example of a colleague, who teaches directional courses and now, with the non-approval of a department, he is asked to fill in the hours at another school!
The policy of rationalisation (see savings) at its peak!
But our students are not sardines and teachers are not numbers!
Education cannot be treated as a cost!
We participate massively in the 24-hour strike on 23/10 (gathering 10:00 at the Regional Directorate of Education of Attica, Xenia 24)
