The “Slalom” is the first feature film by the French director Charlene Favier and was to be screened at Cannes Festival, which was postponed due to coronavirus.
The subject is the story of a young athlete who falls victim to her coach, who tries to dominate her both psychologically and physically, and it seems timely because of her shocking complaint Sophia Bekatorou for sexual abuse, as well as other female athletes who complained of sexual harassment in the venue.
The protagonist of the film is Liz, a girl of only 15 years old, trying to realize her dream. She is accepted by the best ski team in the school and trained by the most successful coach. When he crosses the red line, Liz finds herself trapped as she realizes she has fallen victim to a disturbed mind. Her dilemma is a big one: either give up what she loves or move on and not speak up.
A dark dive into the breeding ground of young champions, exploring the mechanisms of manipulation and toxic competition.
