The fall in the general price index widens in the Athens Stock Exchange, as sentiment on the international stock markets deteriorates, with news from the front of the Ukraine not to be encouraging.
The General Index is down 5.62% at 895.90 points, while turnover is at 85 million and volume is at 41 million pieces. The FTSE 25 is also down 6.04% at 2,178.71 points, while the banking index is down 8.89% at 659.15 points.
The Greek market is testing the 200-day moving average, i.e. 893 points, the break-up of which will change the climate that was built with high expectations from the beginning of the year.
The CAA is showing a similar picture to that of the European markets, as the global investment community is watching the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
Η Frankfurt loses 5.1%, London 3.4%, Paris 5%, Madrid 4.4% and Milan 5.1%. The Istanbul stock exchange loses 8.9%. The Nikkei in Tokyo closed down 1.8%, the ASX in Australia down 2.9%, the Chinese Shanghai index down 1.7% and the Chinese Shenzen index down 2.2%. Losses of 3.3% in Hong Kong and 2.6% in South Korea.
European energy prices soar. The contracts forward-looking gas in Netherlands jump up to 41%, while German March electricity soared up to 31%. Prices strengthened throughout the week as tensions intensified over the Ukraine.
Ο gold strengthened 3.2% to $1,971.40 per ounce, the silver records a gain of 4.5% to $25.64 per ounce, the platinum gains 3.3% to $1,128.20 per ounce, while palladium gains 9.3% to $2,684 per ounce.
