PRESS RELEASE
«ALL TOGETHER, KYTHERA - ANTI-KYTHERA»
«Giving is free, giving costs money»…
Pre-election we remember the Mayor bragging about the many and costly projects planned or completed during his reign (sorry, his mayoralty)... Pre-election he was telling everyone everything because as he clearly implied «had the edges»... But in a recent statement, referring to the finances of the municipality, he admitted that in 2024 «...the money won't run out of the shoe box...
I wonder what the poet is trying to tell us?;
-How about the fact that they should stop asking him to implement what he promised during the election? But he did...
-Does he seek to somehow justify the cuts he has made to the projects of the communities that did not vote for him?;
-Does it also specifically attempt to mislead Kytherian parents that from this year the Municipality will bear the cost of the services of the recently abolished Legal Entity of Public Law to which the Kindergartens and the Municipal Library belonged? But every year the legal entity is funded by the municipality itself, and therefore the same burden will again be borne by the recently adopted budget. It should be remembered that the legal entity was funded by the municipality to the tune of €100 000 per year. So no additional burden is imposed.
He who denounced all the others for alleged «populism», now confesses that «giving is free, giving costs»... He confesses his own populism!
Indeed, the funds are not sufficient to cover all the campaign promises. Let the Mayor deal with «his people» who are «after him» today for what he promised them yesterday... He started by cutting funds from Municipalities, continues with «empty shutter». Who knows what else we'll hear?;
Dear compatriots, our Municipal Party «All Together» is working for the benefit of all our fellow citizens and especially young parents. We call on all factions, all councillors and all parents to work together so that social services (such as those offered by the Legal Entity) do not fall victim to possible financial cuts in our municipality. Childcare Centres, the Public Library and Culture are non-negotiable social goods and should never be compromised.
And because we are the party that first raised the issue of the demographic shrinkage of Kythera (national negative record -10% when in most Greek islands we had an increase of 6%), we commit that we will soon submit a package of proposals to support the permanent residents and especially young people.
