«ALL TOGETHER, KYTHERA - ANTI-KYTHERA»
The municipal councillors of the major opposition, the Presidents of Municipal Communities and the regular members of the councils of Municipal Communities in the Municipality of Kythera participated in the swearing-in of the new Municipal Authority. From the position that the citizens of our islands have put us in, we are committed to contribute with a positive attitude to addressing the problems. We will serve the collective interest beyond and beyond personal interests and aspirations, putting forward our well-founded realistic proposals, far from populist attitudes but with a firm front against arrogance and authoritarianism.
From 1-1-2024 we will again be faced with the harsh reality. Problems await us... We all know that solutions to dozens of problems, large and small, must be found immediately.
The councillors of the major opposition will fight to avoid mistakes, failures, omissions, favouritism and scandalous policies that can only harm the community and nothing else.
Our Party, throughout the election period, has been politically prudent, respectful of every citizen and responsible. We did not follow the easy path of populism, nor did we promise unrealistic and unrealistic projects. We highlighted the problems of our country, we proved where, how and why the municipal authority of Mr Harhalakis did not succeed. We put forward our own proposals and policies and committed ourselves to a new way of running the municipality. We did not reset everything positive that had been done and we did not fail to emphasise how many things could have been done better. We have always conducted our politics with a soft tone and with a sense of responsibility towards the citizens and the history of our islands.
Our Party, (faithful to «All Together» as our logo says), will do everything in our power to help, so that in the years to come our citizens will see real change in our islands. In infrastructure, in the ethos and style of local government and certainly in the quality of our lives. We will take a responsible stance as the official opposition and will exercise productive opposition with informed criticism and realistic proposals.
Our non-negotiable position will be the respect of legality and the application of the overall democratic principles and rules provided for. In any case, we will check with absolute care and in every detail whether the principle of absolute transparency in studies, projects and supplies is respected.
We want to assure our fellow citizens that we will fight daily to impose total transparency everywhere. At the same time, our Party will fight to bring a new political culture by remaining firmly committed to democratic dialogue, to constant contact with the citizen, to confronting any phenomena of opacity and corruption and to the need for full modernization of our Municipality. We will fully respond to the demand of all our citizens to know in detail where every last Euro spent by the Municipality goes and why. We will not support projects of dubious utility and efficiency, showcase projects and high costs for the residents of our islands. On the contrary, we will fight for effective projects that contribute to the progress, prospects and well-being of all our citizens and certainly serve the tourist upgrading of Kythera and Antikythera.
Frankly, we believe in consensual procedures, but to the point where the principle of transparency and social benefit is not compromised and certainly not to the point of miserable logic and petty politics.
We declare our moral commitment to all citizens and friends of Kythera. We will honour the trust of those who voted for us, we will seek to convince those who did not choose us, fighting without commitment to any kind of interests for a truly better and qualitative tomorrow for our islands. We are here to prove that our mission as an opposition has a single purpose: To serve with dedication and passion our country and our fellow citizens, whether they are citizens or have any other relationship with our islands. Thus, after five years, we will have the courage and confidence to look everyone and everything in the eye and ask for a strict evaluation, with the self-awareness that our party, ALL TOGETHER, has fully accomplished its task.
