It has caused a sensation in public opinion AdelinFM's investigative journalism for the illegal landfill next to the River Forest, on the route to Agia Pelagia. The publication «Powder magazine the road near the pine forest of Kythera River» is quite revealing. On the occasion of the excellent work they do at AdelinFM make available to readers additional material with a video at the site of «Phonomandra», as well as photos taken inside the illegal landfill that reveal the sad state of affairs. «Phonomandra», a major environmental disaster next to the River Forest
At a total distance of more than 350m we saw systematic deposits of construction waste of any form, large leaves of the carcinogen asbestos, dead branches, old frames, garbage. The images only cause sadness but there are also questions that need to be answered by the authorities:
- The Municipality of Kythera is aware of the situation
- Is the Coordinating Local Civil Protection Body of the Municipality of Kythera aware of the situation in the area or other areas and if so what measures have been taken?;
- What happens if there is a fire at the site when the northeast winds of August help it spread? Are they aware that beyond the forest is the settlement of 1000 plus River residents, as well as the Trifillies?;
- Is the Kythera River Forestry Department aware of the situation, and if so, what were its actions?;
- What measures does the Municipality of Kythera and the Coordinating Local Civil Protection Body intend to take on this?;
- Will those responsible be punished?;
- Will there be a barrier at the illegal dump?;
We await with particular interest the institutional officials and the mayoral candidates to comment on the data of the journalistic research.
