Kyriakos Mitsotakis: «Mr. Tsipras, this is not a motion of no confidence, it is an act of desperation.»

«Allow me to begin by expressing my support for Marietta, who will emerge victorious,» the Prime Minister said as he took to the podium.

«You announced, Mr Tsipras, that I am finished politically. I imagine that is as accurate an assessment as when you said that there is not a chance in a million that Mr Mitsotakis will win an election,» the prime minister said, addressing the president of the SYRIZA.

Ο Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that Mr Tsipras was making a desperate effort and described the motion of no confidence as awkward and dead-end. «Why has he now remembered the elections if not to close internal party wounds,» he continued.

«I heard him do what he knows how to do very well. To twist the truth. But you have overcome that today, Mr. Tsipras. Every sentence two lies. I have asked my colleagues to deconstruct one by one the lies you told in the hall today,» Mitsotakis added.

«You did not fail to attack me in the usual angry style with personal characterizations and to launch divisive dilemmas. Real life needs neither more lies nor more toxicity,» the prime minister stressed.

Sun. Mitsotakis: We make the lessons a projection and we serve them

«To rule who? The one who didn't have an accountability conference after 2.5 years? The one who has not changed a single member of the leadership team that was soundly defeated at the ballot box. The one who invokes policies that have been condemned by the people. These are questions that in themselves provide the answer», Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, speaking from the floor of the Parliament.

The Prime Minister said that the government is not facing the mistakes of yesterday but the challenges of tomorrow, noting that the ministers and MPs presented the work that has been produced and the objectives. «It is true that all our actions have been developed in conditions of unprecedented crises with no recent historical precedent. I refer to the worst global pandemic, the secondary crisis in the energy market, the extreme weather events, the earthquakes, the heat wave and fires, the hybrid attack our country received in Evros and the events in the eastern Mediterranean,» Mitsotakis noted, quoting a phrase of Lenin that there are years when nothing happens and weeks that fit years. «We can say that we managed to get through these storms with the least casualties,» Mitsotakis said.

The Prime Minister added that «my apology is addressed to those who suffered, not to those who never expressed it». «Those who are not used to such political behaviour should learn that a prime minister's apology is a political act with special weight and special significance,» he stressed.

And he stressed: «It is also interesting that today and yesterday the US and Denmark and Sweden were hit by bad weather. Tens of thousands were left without power.» It is a Greek peculiarity to instrumentalize a natural disaster, he continued.

«We make the teachings into precepts and serve them. And not based on the cries of a party that hasn't said a word about private company accountability. What is it that makes you stand up for the Attica routes? You are making a motion of no confidence because Attiki Odos was left open when last year you blamed the government for closing the Athens-Lamia route,» he added.

SYRIZA attempts to present a false reality about the pandemic

The Prime Minister, referring to the pandemic, accused SYRIZA of attempting to present a false reality. Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that today the 84% of adult Greeks are now shielded. «If we had been at this rate in September or October we would have spared thousands of our fellow citizens,» he said, adding that slowly but surely the cases are receding.

«We are not done with the pandemic,» he continued, stressing that any failures do not negate the work that has been done and said in this regard, that ICUs have more than doubled and 12,000 new health professionals have been hired.

«I wonder if those who proclaimed that vaccines supposedly don't exist and then that they are being thrown out can listen to them. You were laying mines and now you pretend that you were supposedly backing off. We are not asking who underestimated the scientists by suggesting veterinary drugs for treatments. Mr Polakis recognised himself. You who voted against compulsory vaccination,» the prime minister added, while in continuous interventions by Mr Polakis, Mitsotakis called on Mr Tsipras to restrain him.

The Prime Minister then referred to the measures to support society during the pandemic. «You have not had a word to say about the fact that Greece will show growth in 2021 well above 7%. About the fact that during the pandemic Greece showed the biggest drop in unemployment of any EU country,» Mitsotakis stressed.

For the first time Greece is in the top ten of the most attractive countries for business projects

Speaking on the economy, the Prime Minister said, among other things, that the economic climate index shows that the performance of the Greek economy is reaching a 20-year record.

«The picture of catastrophe that you present is answered by the fact that Greek deposits have reached a record level. 50,000 unemployed people found jobs last year and another 80,000 this year. And of course with the government's decision to significantly raise the minimum wage for the second time this year on May 1. This is the implementation of permanent measures with a social and developmental focus,» Mitsotakis stressed and then referred in detail to the reduction of taxes.

«All this was done by the current government, Mr Tsipras. The previous one raised all taxes. Imposing 29 new taxes. This is so that we do not forget and compare ourselves,» the Prime Minister stressed, while speaking about accuracy, he said that accuracy is an imported phenomenon that saws incomes. In this regard, he spoke of the government's support to address the issue of accuracy. ’These extraordinary interventions will continue. They should not challenge the fiscal balance under any circumstances. These are for those who understand how public finances work and not for those who spout easy announcements. Sorcerer's apprentices and money trees belong to another era. Today is the era of truth and development for all,« Mitsotakis said.

In addition, he said that for the first time Greece is in the top ten of the most attractive countries for the implementation of business projects. «Our country is becoming home to international technology giants. I imagine they would not come to Greece if we were on the verge of disaster, Mr. Tsipras,» he continued.

The Prime Minister recommended, among other things, to visit the Pfizer centre in Thessaloniki where many children who returned to Greece during the days of the current government work.

«All this is indifferent to you, isn't it? But for the workers is not at all indifferent and they do not hear at all what you said today and the picture of destruction that you presented, »he added, while for the project Patras-Pyrgos said that today the project is progressing and added: «Let us not remember after you talked about transparency issues that you slashed the project to eight to give it to your favourite contractors.».

On the front of the weakest, the data itself speaks for itself

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from the floor of the Parliament, referred to the electronic work card, which, he said, will guarantee employees' working hours and overtime. He also spoke about the institution of the first stamp and the programmes for young people and the insurance reform.

«On the front of the weakest, the data itself speaks for itself», the Prime Minister continued, referring to specific actions such as the minimum guaranteed income.

«These are aspects of a state that facilitates the daily life of the citizen», he noted and referred to its digitalisation. He detailed what is being done digitally and stressed that «all this is about those who can appreciate true care for the worker and not those who only talk to labour leaders and hold citizens hostage with election counterparts.».

Tonight, the doomed past mocks the creative present and the promising future

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in his speech in the Parliament that the government would like to have all political forces by its side in the framework of creative criticism.

He said that the government is in chaos with the opposition and that he would expect a positive response and more creative proposals from Kinal. You will not be able, gentlemen of KINAL-PASOK, to stay long in the gallery with your leader giving interviews of pretentious vagueness. I would have expected that your proclamations of an autonomous course would lead to an autonomous stance, a differentiated speech and a corresponding vote. You chose to line up behind SYRIZA and this will go down in history,« he continued.

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that the country is moving forward with optimism and confidence in the next day. «Very soon the current motion of no-confidence will be forgotten as another firework of SYRIZA. It turned out to be without substance and without impact. This was reflected before the debate even started. On Thursday morning, one of the biggest giants was announcing the takeover of part of a Greek company, offering more than 1 billion in capital. Another vote of confidence. At the same time, a few hundred metres away, Mr Tsipras was tabling a motion of no confidence against the worst government since the post-war period. Two different worlds. Tonight, the doomed past is being praised by the creative present and the promising future, and that is why I call on you to vote against it’, the Prime Minister underlined.
