The route followed by the two men to approach the boxer in Galati, but also to disappear, are trying to map the strains of the Homicide, hoping that they will also find the killers' mistake, which will lead them to their identity.
Shortly after six o'clock on Monday afternoon, while the victim was getting off his bike in front of a boxing club, a man wearing a surgical mask approached him. With a nine-millimeter pistol he fired seven times and then ran a few yards and got on a motorcycle, in which his accomplice was waiting for him.
The arrest of the boxer
The boxer was no stranger to the police authorities. In 2011 his name was included in a case file for attempted murder, bodily harm and extortion.
Police sources said the victim was in the group of a 58-year-old man, the so-called ”Kefalas”, who was shot dead by gunmen in mid-May in Metamorphosis. So close was their relationship that they reportedly called him ”nephew” of the 58-year-old, who had taken him under his wing from an early age.
Although so far they have little evidence at their disposal, homicide investigators believe it is more likely that the motive for the murder is related to the nightlife and the extortionist groups that operate there.
