«The catastrophic fires are a timeless crime of all governments against life, against property and of course against the natural environment,» said the C.E. of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas.
«All governments to date - and the current government of the Southwest - have not had the necessary planning, have not taken all the preventive measures that were needed in time. But, here and now, even though we are in the middle of the fire season, we need generous funding so that infrastructure can be provided, resources can be provided, personnel can be provided. Immediately recruit the 4,000 firefighters that are needed, as well as the 1,500 workers for the forestry services,» added D. Koutsoumbas and concluded his statement: «To proceed very quickly with the counting, the mapping of all the damages, so that their restoration can begin immediately and, of course, to give generous compensation to 100%, for all the damages, for all those affected».
